ICON by Absolute New York in Exposed Eyeshadow Palette Review

So long time ago, I was looking around a local drugstore (Watson) and I came across with this eye shadow palette. In my mind, I thought this palette looks really similar to the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. I quickly grab that palette and tested for my self to see whether it would be a pretty good dupe for the famous UD Naked 2 eye shadow palette. So, here is the review on the ICON by Absolute New York eyeshadow palette in the Exposed.

If you want to know what I think about this palette then keep on reading....

Honestly, I've never heard of this brand before and this is my first time buying from their brand.

Packaging

The packaging is really similar to UD Naked 2 eye shadow palette. I have to admit the packaging quality is really good and the material of the palette is really similar to Naked 2 palette. They also come with a good size mirror which is really convenient for applying the makeup.

Shades

Okay, now let's run down with shades in the eye palette. So, here we have 12 shades of eyeshadow. 3 matte shades and the rest 9 shades are metallic. The shades are pretty close like the Naked 2 palette.

Ballet - pale pink satin finish with fine gold glitter.
Muted- light brown with a hint of a pink undertone and have fine gold glitter.
Canvas - Light beige colour with matte finish
Toast - cool bronze colour with coarse gold glitter.
Nude - Medium brown colour with matte finish
Nectar - warmer and lighter version of Canvas with matte finish
Gilded - Warm bronzer shade with coarse gold glitter
Cedar - Dark brown with some hint of olive colour with coarse gold glitter.
Flirt - Rose gold colour with fine gold glitter
Java - Dark purple colour with coarse gold glitter.
Slate - Dark grey colour with coarse gold glitter
Gunmetal - Cool dark grey colour with a hint of blue and coarse gold glitter.

Texture

Most of them are powdery and it has a velvety texture when you feel the eyeshadow with your fingers. Besides that, it is beautifully swatched on my fingers and hand. Unfortunately, it doesn't really apply to my eyes like it does on my fingers especially with the brushes. I also find it hard to blend and it can be a little bit muddy sometimes when the colours blend with each other in a very weird way. However, the pigmentation is good for the price point.

My final thought

I love the shade Gilded, Flirt, Java and Slate. My least favourite shade from this palette is Canvas, Nectar and Nude. Yes, all of the matte eyeshadows in this palette is not my cup of tea. This is because one it is really chalky and powdery. Two, it applies really patchy and doesn't blend really well. Besides that, it doesn't really show up with my skin complexion. I think people with fairer than my complexion can use these shades as a transition shade. So, in conclusion, I think they should improve their formula of their matte shades and I'm not really mad about their metalic, I think they are still acceptable for the price. However, I also love to have a matte black eyeshadow in this pallate instead of two almost same shade of metallic grey.

Does it make an excellent dupe for the UD Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette? Not really because UD palette are super high quality and their pigmentation is insane. Besides that, their eyeshadow blends really amazing. So, for the price, I would say ICON eyeshadow is pretty dope for their metallic shades and together with the Maybelline Nudes Palette, you can create some beautiful look on your eyes.
